About this conference

2018 BEST Conference & International Symposium on Biotechnology and Bioengineering

Since its first time in 1996, the BEST Conference has developed into a key annual event in Taiwan for people in the areas of biochemical engineering and applied biotechnology. The involvement of foreign participants in the BEST Conference render it more influential and helpful for establishing international relations and collaborations. We would like to thank all the participants for joining 2018 BEST Conference & International Symposium on Biotechnology and Bioengineering.

Our History

Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering Society of Taiwan (BEST), which is formerly known as Biochemical Engineering Society of Taiwan, is a non-profit association, established on 28 April 2001. The general objective of BEST is to promote academic exchanges and scientific research in biotechnology and biochemical engineering, and to boost collaborations between scientists in the academic and industrial sectors.

A major annual event organized by BEST is the BEST Conference. The first Conference on Biochemical Engineering was launched in National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) in 1996. Since 2013, the name of the conference has changed to BEST Conference on Biotechnology and Bioengineering. The conference has developed into a key annual event in Taiwan for researchers working in the areas of biochemical engineering and applied biotechnology. The BEST Conference started to be an international symposium in 2015. The 20th BEST Conference & International Symposium on Biotechnology and Bioengineering was held in National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Taipei, on 26-27 June 2015.

BEST is an institutional member of Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB). As the collaborative partner of AFOB in Taiwan, BEST organized 2007 APBioChEC, which was transformed into Asian Congress on Biotechnology (ACB) in 2011. BEST also supported YABEC 2014, which was held in Chiayi, Taiwan. Both ACB and YABEC are major events of AFOB. BEST keeps playing an active role in the Asian biotechnology community.
